BizRate is operated by Shopzilla and started out as a business rating service. The general idea whas that once you had purchased something from a retailer you would come to BizRate's website and review or rate their service, hence the name BizRate.

In 1999 the company changed it's name to BizRate.com. The in 2004 the company launched ShopZilla and as such changed it's name and started trading as ShopZilla. With both websites ShopZilla was able to provide price comparison and business ratings and reviews as one single service.

BizRate UK is their UK counterpart and it was fully released in early 2000s and is now one of the most well known UK price comparison websites. The Shopzilla brand also has a UK website, however, it is not as well known.
